FilmCraft · Introduction

Your footage. Your timeline. Your finished story.

filmcraft brings the open-source FilmCraft editing engine into a browser workspace, alongside the AI tools already available here. Start with footage you own, arrange a sequence, and make creative decisions directly on the timeline. You control where each shot begins, what the audience hears, and when a title appears. Import, edit and preview freely before signing in; saving a project or an exported result requires verified login and does not spend generation credits.

The open-source FilmCraft editor provides a familiar workspace for keeping media, preview, timeline, and creative controls close at hand. Move between the overall sequence and individual shots without losing the story you are building. ArtCraft provides account access and private result storage, so completed saves stay associated with your account. The original FilmCraft authors and licenses are credited in the workspace.

Use filmcraft for a product demonstration, a short documentary, a lesson, or a personal story. Begin with a small sequence, preview picture and sound together, and export a test before building a longer cut. Browser performance depends on your device, footage, and available graphics support. Keep original media on your device and retain a local project copy while you work.

This page uses your ArtCraft account and private storage. Keep this editor tab open while signing in and until saving succeeds.

FilmCraft · Features

A timeline for deliberate cuts with filmcraft

Place picture and sound on separate tracks in filmcraft, then make the sequence serve the story. Trim a long opening, leave room for a reaction, or move a detail shot between two wider views. Work from an assembly toward a tighter edit rather than polishing every clip immediately. Preview filmcraft transitions in context: an attractive cut still needs to connect the moments on either side.

Keep source footage organized

Use filmcraft bins and clear media names to make a filmcraft project easier to navigate as it grows. Gather interview selects, product details, stills, and music before arranging the final order. Keep the original files in a stable folder on your device. A saved project describes the edit and its media references; it does not automatically package every imported source file into a cloud backup.

Shape color around the scene with filmcraft

The filmcraft editor includes correction controls, curves, and color tools for changing the feel of a shot. In filmcraft, begin by comparing adjacent clips for exposure and white balance before reaching for a stronger look. Check skin tones, highlights, and dark areas after each adjustment. A consistent filmcraft sequence often matters more than making a single frame dramatic, especially when footage comes from different cameras.

Move with intention

In filmcraft, motion and opacity controls let you refine how a clip sits inside the frame. Use filmcraft to explore a restrained push toward a detail, a gradual reveal, or a fade that gives the viewer time to read. The upstream engine supports keyframes, but the right animation is usually the simplest one that serves the scene. Play the entire filmcraft move before deciding its timing feels right.

Give dialogue room to breathe with filmcraft

A clear soundtrack begins with listening. Arrange dialogue, ambience, and music in filmcraft so important words remain understandable through each cut. The engine provides audio mixing and effects; apply them with a specific problem in mind, then compare the result. Listen to filmcraft playback on headphones and ordinary speakers when possible. Do not assume an impressive waveform means a comfortable listening level or a balanced finished mix.

Titles that belong in the frame

Use the filmcraft text and graphics tools to introduce a speaker, explain a step, or give a sequence a clear ending. Check filmcraft titles against bright and dark footage, and allow enough screen time for a new viewer to read them. Keep essential information away from the edges when preparing social formats. Review spelling and timing in your filmcraft export, where the audience will actually see them.

Build useful versions with filmcraft

Try a different opening or a shorter arrangement without losing sight of the original brief. A filmcraft sequence can become easier to judge when you change one decision at a time: the first shot, a pause, or the placement of a title. Keep named filmcraft project copies for milestones. Compare versions for clarity and pacing instead of assuming that more effects or faster cutting automatically improves the story.

Preview within browser limits

The filmcraft web release uses WebGPU where available, with a WebGL2 fallback. filmcraft still depends on browser support and device resources, so test representative footage early. The upstream web documentation identifies features that require desktop threads, including proxies and mask tracking, as unavailable in this build. Use smaller test sequences to find a practical workflow before committing to a large or demanding edit.

Save results privately with filmcraft

When filmcraft writes a supported project or export, this site saves the result to your account's private storage and records it in AI Tasks. Wait for the successful save message before leaving the page. Project files may be up to 10 MiB, while supported MP4, WebM, and PNG results may be up to 90 MiB. Editing and these saves consume zero generation credits.

Keep a portable working copy

Download the filmcraft project and retain the original media together when you want a dependable working archive. Reopening a filmcraft project may require reconnecting local files, particularly on another device. Browser recovery storage can help during a session, but it should not be your only copy. Confirm that a reopened project can find its sources before treating an archive as ready for future revisions.

Add AI material when needed with filmcraft

If a sequence needs a new visual idea, use the site's AI video or image tools as a separate creation step. Review the model, settings, and displayed credit quote before submitting. Download a result you want to keep, then import it into filmcraft alongside your other footage. The example videos and reusable prompts below belong to those AI tools; their generation is distinct from free timeline editing.

Review the actual delivery

Export a short filmcraft test, open the downloaded file, and inspect picture, sound, titles, and the beginning and end of the sequence. For filmcraft, a successful preview is one useful checkpoint, while the final file is the delivery you need to evaluate. Available formats depend on the engine and browser. Keep the filmcraft source project so you can correct an issue and create another export without rebuilding the edit.

Creator workflows

A product demonstration

Arrange product clips in FilmCraft, trim pauses, add clear titles and balance the soundtrack. Export a short test before preparing the final version.

A story with sound

Combine dialogue, music and supporting footage in FilmCraft. Keep the original media with your project so later revisions can reconnect the same sources.

From AI clips to a finished cut

Use ArtCraft AI tools for any new shots, then import selected results from Assets into FilmCraft. AI generation uses credits; manual timeline editing remains free.

FilmCraft · FAQ

Is filmcraft free to use?

Yes. Import, edit and preview without an account. Sign in with a verified account when you save a project or export a result; both are free and use zero credits. The paid plans shown on this site apply to AI generation.

Where does filmcraft come from?

The editor uses the ArtCraft team's open-source FilmCraft v0.6.0 web release. filmcraft.tools independently provides login, private result saving, and access to additional AI tools. Original engine files and license notices are retained; this site is not the upstream project's official website.

Does a saved project include my original footage?

A filmcraft project contains editing structure and media references. Original imported footage stays on your device and is not automatically uploaded by the result-saving integration. Keep those source files and a local project copy. Another device may need the media to be linked again.

How do I know my result was saved?

Wait for the workspace to confirm that the filmcraft result was saved to AI Tasks. Supported exports have a 90 MiB limit and project files a 10 MiB limit. If saving fails, keep the local download and retry before closing the editor.

Can I use every desktop feature in the browser?

The filmcraft browser build shares the editing engine, but some desktop operations need threads or platform facilities that the web release cannot provide. Browser resources also affect performance. Try a small project with your own footage and a test export before planning a larger production.
